Craigie Aitchison is widely admired for his vibrant palette and distinctive compositions combining iconic subjects including crucifixions, portraits, still life, the Scottish landscape of his childhood and
beloved Beddlington Terriers. His style invokes both the early Italian Renaissance as well as the British visionary tradition. Aitchison studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London (1952-4). He
