Emily Myers' beautiful green porcelain lantern vases and red stoneware clay ceramics use contrasting clays to provide the bright white and chocolate brown backgrounds to the vessels in her new collection. Soft pinks to browns and barium green vessels are often lined with fine black glazes in perfect balance.
The potter's wheel is central to Emily's studio practice. An exemplary craftswoman, she is not limited to the circular nature of the thrown pot, she creates elegant forms using the ancient Chinese method of faceting and by carving and altering the pots in a range of matt stoneware barium glazes.
