Artist Talk & Summer Picnic
Neil Bousfield - Waiting for the Tide, Wood engraving
Neil Bousfield 'Waiting for the Tide' Engraving, 26.5 x 36.5 cm

Wood engraver Neil Bousfield will walk you through his studio practice and the making of his beautiful engravings. Bring a Picnic to share with friends before the talk.

Bousfield is an elected member of The Society of Wood Engravers and the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. He exhibits widely and has work held within major public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, Ohio State University Libraries, USA. He graduated from Bristol's University of the West of England in 2007 where he gained a Master of Arts in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking. He lives and works in Norfolk.

Neil Bousfield 'Cold Cold Sea 15-20 minutes, 2016 (detail), Engraving, 10 x 12.5 cm, from the Walcot series.

Neil Bousfield's Home and Place and Walcott woodcut series reflect on notions of temporality, loss, and fragility. The prints begin to map and record the impact of the process of coastal erosion, storms, sea surges and rising sea levels. The delicate marks and pallet used act to unravel a narrative that explores a changing landscape and community.
